Absa Group has announced the appointment of Frances Adu-Mante as Board Chair of Absa Bank Ghana after regulatory authorities approved the bank’s choice.
She is succeeding Charles Alexander Cofie who completed his tenure as Board Chairman on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
Adu-Mante has served on the Board since September 2017.

Adu-Mante is an astute banker, Legal Practitioner, and Business Executive with forty-two (42) years of experience in Law, Banking, and Finance. She is also the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the University of Ghana Business School Endowment Fund, a member of the Governing Council of the Presbyterian University College of Ghana, and a Consultant at ROFAM Consultancy Services, a Legal & Human Resource Management Consultancy.
She worked with Ecobank Group for 25 years holding different portfolios within the Ecobank Group. These positions include Group Coordinator Microfinance and Managing Director/CEO EB-ACCION Savings & Loans Company Limited. She was also the Executive Director – Retail Banking, Director & Head – Consumer Banking, Company Secretary/Head-Legal, Regulatory & Compliance with additional responsibility at various times for General Administration and Credit Administration.
The new Board Chairman of Absa Bank Ghana also holds an EMBA (Finance) and a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Ghana, a Professional Qualifying Certificate in Law from the Ghana Law School. She has a Certificate of Completion of Program in United States Law and Legal Institutions from the University of Wisconsin, USA. She is also an alumna of INSEAD Executive Program.
